COTERIE 2

Coterie 2 is part of a series of eight works on paper that are reminiscent of the work of the innovative and highly influential American artist Alexander Calder who is best known for his mobiles and wire sculptures.
Coterie 2 is a minimalist interpretation on paper of Calder’s famous mobiles and features a single, unbroken hand-drawn graphite line that is looped to represent a mobile wire. The art elements of line, shape, and movement come together in this playful series. Beginning at the top of the picture plane, the line stretches to the left then drops and loops toward the lower portion of the work. The voyage concludes at a solitary sage green globe. A small black dot provides a focal point for the eye.
